St. Patricks Day Party Recap

A big crowd of Knights and their families and friends had a grand old time at the first ever St. Patricks party in our new headquarters.

The day featured corned beef sandwiches and a six foot hero, as well as a continuous flow of Irish music and spirits.  An informal dart tournament

took place, with Liz Coakley emerging as the apparent victor, with a strong performance turned in by Joe O’DaCorta.

K of C Free Throw Tournament

W.J.Boyd was well represented in the K of C Free Throw tournament by 12 year old Ryan Fitzmaurice from St. Barnabas.  Ryan won

our Council championship, and then proceeded to win the District, Bronx/Manhattan/Staten Island, and Downstate titles to earn a spot at the

N.Y. State championships held at West Point in April.  Ryan sank an unbelievable 21 of 25 foul shots, yet was nosed out by an eagle-eyed competitor.

In addition to Ryan, congrats go out to  Matt Saunders and Kevin Supple who made it as far as the Downstate competition at Shrub Oak.

Our beautiful new room (25’x36’) is now available to rent for special accasions, such as birthdays, christenings, showers, graduations or

Calvary Hospital

We would like to thank all of those who bought and sold the C & B books for this most worthy cause.  We were able to sell more books than

we have in the past ten years at a time when the hospital is suffering from cutbacks in Federal aid.  Thanks again for your support.

Bosnia

Boyd Council has received numerous letters of thanks from the men and women of the Armed Forces for the many boxes of sundry supplies

we have shipped to Bosnia.  Several schools and other local organizations have also followed Boyd’s lead in letting our servicemen know we care and

appreciate them.  Special thanks to Johnny Murphy for not only kicking off this great charity, but for personally handling the shipping of all supplies collected.

We’d also like to acknowledge Mike Brennan for bringing this cause to the attention of the students at PS 19, where it was very well supported.  Please

note that this is an ongoing effort and that supplies may be dropped off any evening that we are open.

Insurance

retirement fund for you and your wife.  It isn’t luck that helps you survive in your retirement years.  It is good, intelligent use of your money.  Life

insurance is one of the ways you can be sure to enjoy your golden years.  Life insurance enables you to look forward to retirement instead of fear it.
