            The election of officers for the upcoming year was held on  June 16th, and the following candidates were elected:

Saturday in the Park

            The Ninth Annual Boyd Old-Timers Day /Picnic will be held at Indian Field in Woodlawn on Saturday, July 8th at 11:00 AM. 

In the event of rain, it will be held the following day.  The day will feature a softball game between the 1986 Boyd champions and their

1994 counterparts.  All are welcome,so mark the date on your calendar today.  Bring your own refreshments and a baseball glove.

Fr. Duffy Squire Reunion Picnic

            On September 9, 1995, the Council will be sponsoring a Fr. Duffy Squire Reunion picnic at Krucker's Restaurant and Grove

in Pomona, Rockland County, N.Y.  The day consists of coffee and danish in the morning, with unlimited hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage

and peppers sandwiches, beer and soda available all day.  Kruckers' grounds provide a pool, softball fields, horseshoe pits, basketball

courts, ping pong tables and more.  The picnic is open to all members and their families and, since the picnic area is sheltered, the event

goes on rain or shine.  See the enclosed flyer for the particulars.

Keep On Hopin' Open

            Our annual golf outing will take place Friday, September 29th, at Van Cortlandt Golf Course.  The first Tee time is 8:30 A.M.. 

The  $85.00 entry fee includes golf, gas cart, refreshments after the round, awards, prizes and open bar and buffet dinner at  River's Edge

Deja Vu?

            The defending champion W.J. Boyd softball team currently occupies second place in the N.Y. Chapter League with a record of 7-3. 

Manager John Honan anticipates his team rounding into shape as injuries heal and the playoffs begin later this month.  The league All Star

Game will be held on Thursday evening, July 6th at Allerton Field.  All Knights and their families are welcome to attend both the game and

the party that follows at Pro Patria Council.

 

Fall Dart League organizing now

            Last year's team finished in a respectable fourth place.  There is room on the roster for new players or a possibility of fielding two teams. 

Games take place one night a week from October through January at various Bronx councils.  Experience is not necessary, so just come out and

enjoy the competition and the camaraderie. Anyone interested can either call the Hot Line (914) 237 - 2747 and leave a message or call team

Monday Night Football Pool

            The softball team is once again sponsoring a Monday Night Football box pool that will run for the length of the NFL season ( 17 weeks ). 

The cost for the season is $85.00, payable prior to the start of the season, and there will be $1700.00 in prize money up for grabs.  Here's a

chance to support your softball team, as well as add some excitement while viewing the Monday night games.  The boxes are moving fast so

see John Honan or JJ Jordan at Old-Timer's Day , or call the Hotline as soon as possible.

 

Meeting &  Fraternal Nights

            Starting in September, the general membership meetings will be held on the third Thursday of every month, while officers meetings will be

the first Thursday of every month.  All meetings are held at our new office at 957 McLean Ave.
